IIRC the 580 uses an IDE drive and SCSI Probe won't be of any use.

You could try the latest version of 'Mt. Everything' (v1.5.3?)
which will work for ATA on the internal bus.

My experience with the older ATA drives in these lowend machines is that
they are not very durable and it's quite possible that they are simply dead
from "sticktion" after the period of un-use
