The drive gets removed from the Mac and its casing. I spray it in shrt bursts with a carburetor/fuel injector cleaner aerosol, avoiding the heads. Then I let it dry. I take a WD-40-type lube and spray it into a baby food jar until it's 1/4 full. With a plastic model paint brush, I dab the top, side rails and under the slider. I put in a junk floppy disk and work the drive thoroughly, wiping off the excess oil that collects on the disk. After it sits in the sun, or other warm spot, it gets reassembled and placed back into the Mac. JEff -- Compact Macs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/>.
