That's not weird. The SE's had pretty crappy hard disks. I remember 
my Classic, my first Mac in 1991, had a pretty fast connor hard disk. 
Because if this speedy hard disk it functioned acceptable with 7.1.
But I do remember it became a lot faster after installing system 6.

I can't wait for my Color Classic too:-) Hopefully, the two desks in 
my work room at home will experience a metamorphosis next year. One 
of them will get a CC, and my iMac DV SE will be replaced by a 
flatscreen iMac G4.
