The drive needs to be fully disconnected and the mounting screws removed so you can hold just the mechanism itself in your hand. Hold one of the short edges (it looks roughly rectangular from above) with your non-dominant hand, and use your dominant hand to whack it on the opposite end so that the drive pivots slightly forward in your gripping hand.
