Might be a good idea to check the basics. Try another ether cable. If possible try hooking the iMac DV to another computer and see if you can establish a link. These shouldn't take too long and might save you a lot of hassle
I've lost track how many hours I've spent fighting with network problems on both Macs and PCs only to discover that the problem was on the other end, not in the unit I was working on.
