I should also add that I was looking on Ebay a few days ago and found those 
39.99 + 25 s/h auctions ending soon with 0 bids. The same seller has them 
up again, starting at 40+25, with 0 bids. I guess the seller is biding 
time, waiting for demand to out-step supply.

The British mac scene on ebay seems snappy and realistic, but shipping 
across the pond would be mildly silly for a computer that is either in 
landfills or filling warehouses and closets.

Thanks for all the response people. Just trying to brainstorm with an 
audience. I hope it doesn't seem like I'm coming out of nowhere and asking 
rude random questions.

Lowendmac also recommended this as a place to look for compact macs.
