Very similar, yes, but not identical, and a lot faster than a null modem
connection.  Much easier to use, too.  The adapters plug into the serial port
and give two RJ-11 jacks.  Each end of the network needs to be terminated with
a 120 Ohm resistor across its two data pins.  More info at threemacs.com or
