I have a similar question about networking older macs. I have a
centris 650 running system 7.5.3 hooked up to ethernet via a Shiva
Etherport II. I installed the drivers off www.macdrivermuseum.com for
the card. I am using open transport, whatever version comes with 7.5.3
and set my IP and gw info, but, for some reason I cannot connect to my
network, I cannot ping the computer. Ruling out the possibility that
the network card is busted, why would the card not connect? One
strange thing to note is that I am actually connected via coax, not
10basedT, because that is the type of networking I use in my house.
Termination and other coax related issues are ruled out because the
rest of my network runs fine. Any advice that you could give would be
much appreciated.
