With many thanks to Stuart for the loan of his Torx, I finally got my Asante ethernet card installed, link light lit looking good.
However, I then decided to upgrade from 7.0.1 to 7.1 using shrinkwrapped (mounted) images on the desktop, install seemed to be going fine, then after a series of beeps the SE rebooted itself, and now all I get is a floppy disk icon with a question mark ! Help me I have goosed my Mac ! The attached Zip drive is obviously ruled out, and the SE is the 800k floppy model, which seems to rule out a rescue using transmac. How could I have been so dumb ?!
