Perhaps creating a *large* ramdisk (32 or 64 Mb) and copying into it at boot
time the most frequently used apps and tools to speed their launch? It would
slow down the boot process, but would make a difference when the system is
running. Is there any program that let you do that (I mean - to copy a bunch
of files into a ramdisk at boot time)?
