Hi!

I have read the hardware note on memory configurations provided by
Stuart (thanks a lot!). It's a very interesting reding for all of us
interested in hardware. It even explains why 2 and 3-chip 1 Mb SIMMs
doesn't work properly on most compact Macs. But in the same paragraph,
it states that the Classic II can't take 8 (or 9) chip 4 Mb SIMMs. The
document states that you need the older 32-chip SIMMs (it seems that
they do exist) in order to get the full 10 Mb without problems.

I have upgraded yesterday my Classic II motherboard with two of these
SIMMs, and have had no problems, but it is a short time to test...
Have any of you had problems with such an upgrade? It seems as the
hardware note is wrong in that point, because somewhere else it states
that the Classic II addresses memory in a different way than the Plus,
SE and Classic (which makes sense because now the 16 Mhz CPU can't be
synchronized with the video memory access), but I would like to
confirm it.

Greetings,

Antonio Rodrguez (Grijan)
