If you are looking for *opinions* then I will give mine.

I own Mac TV and I would not dare "upgrade" it. The only thing my Mac TV
that isn't stock is 500 MB Quantum HD (only because the 160 MB one
failed) and a full 8MB of RAM. If you "upgrade" a Mac TV you basically
destroy its essence. The Mac TV is one of those wonderully unique
creations by Apple (although a "Road Apple") and ended up being the most
rare of the production Macs. I say that if you want something fast,
upgrade an LC 5xx to a PowerPC. Leave the Mac TV alone and let it be its
unique self. There are already too few of these machines left in their
original condition. Please don't destroy this one.

Yeah, my Mac TV is SLOW (benchmarks slower than my SE/30) but I don't
worry about speed. Iuse it to play od CD-ROM games, watch TV, play CDs
and it does an outstanding job of it. The though of upgrading crossed my
mind but I dismissed it because its not like they are easy to find.
