Greetings, I was finally able to track down an active external SCSI-1 terminator with LED in order to try and correct my SCSI woes.
To refresh everyone, I'm attempting to get a troublesome MicroNet 200 MB external harddrive to mount for use with my Macintosh SE/30 which is running System 7. Plug the terminator into the drive and turn it on. Wait for drive to spin up and turn on SE/30. SE/30 attempts to startup, but gives the Disk-?. Curious... internal harddrive in SE/30 set to SCSI-ID 0 with working System Folder and external MicroNet drive set to SCSI-ID 2. Turn MicroNet drive off and restart SE/30. SE/30 boots normally. Turn on external MicroNet drive and SE/30 hangs. Tried this on my SE as well with the same results. If I try this using my PowerMacintosh 6100/60 running OS 9, with the external MicroNet drive powered on before I startup the 6100 I'll get the Disk-?. Internal disk SCSI-ID 0, external disk SCSI-ID 2, internal CD drive SCSI-ID 3. Turn MicroNet drive off and restart 6100. 6100 boots normally. Turn on external MicroNet drive and 6100 continues to function. Start up the MicroNet utility and it still reports that the MicroNet drive is on every open SCSI-ID including the one it's physically set to. SCSI Probe and Mt. Everything utilities report the same even though the external drive is now terminated. This is driving me crazy! Is something hardware-wise wrong with the external MicroNet drive? If I could get the SE/30 or SE not to hang I'd try the SCSI utilities on them to try and diagnose the issue, but the 6100 is the only one that comes close to working with the drive. Anyone have any more suggestions? I'm desperate, please help. Thank you for your indulgence in this matter. -Jon -- Compact Macs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/>.
