Jon,
This might be a long shot, but it is possible that the drive *inside* the
external MicroNet enclosure was not the original one, and perhaps the
external SCSI ID selector wires either aren't connected, or the unique plug
wouldn't fit on the newer drive. In that case, the external drive may
actually be set to be SCSI 0 like your internal drive. I've had this
experience myself in the past.
You might need to open up the external drive enclosure to be sure. Worth a
look...
