Andrew:

Run Debian Linux or NetBSD (if you swing that way) on you old mac, don't run A/UX. Besides being proprietary, it is out of date and a PITA to install and run. Linux is much more modern and easier to use. It also has better support for hardware. Besides, lots of people know and can help out with Linux, few if any know about A/UX.
