.dsk is also a appleII image format among others.

With a size of 413 Kb, it is not an Apple II disk image file. Apple II's disk images are either 140 Kb or 800 Kb in size, depending on wether the image is from a 5 1/4" or 3 1/2" diskette - they are raw disk data without headers.

Thanks Antonio. I'm sure the file in question is not meant for a Apple II. The point was that it is a apple II file type.

I don't think it does. Disk images aren't very popular in the PC world, and the only widely used PC operating system that has built-in support for them is Linux - neither Win**ws, DOS or OS/2 have native support without third-party utilities like Rawrite (by the way, a must-have for all compacters whose main computer is a PC). Furtermore, PC disk images are allways sized exactly 1.38 Mb - again (like the Apple II case) they only contain raw uncompressed disk data.

To be honest I dont think OS/2 has a .dsk file type, forget the image file type. I just couldnt be bothered turning on a OS/2 machine to check.

For what I see, I think it's very probable for it to be a VMac image file.

Umm, yeah. It pretty self explaining if you look at it.

Now since I've been meaning to ask you, you posted a longing for a AppleGS, have you tried Gus on the mac or Xgs-32 on the pc? Not the real thing but still very nice and faster. You'd find both load .dsk files, among others. ;)

toodles
