I acquired a Mac Plus today and find that whereas I have the keyboard I do
not have the cable to connect. Neither do I have a mouse. Apparently these are
not the same as other Macs use. They appear to be quite different with totally
different connectors. Am I correct in my assumptions.
Yep, you need a special cable with the same number of wires but a narrower connector than a phone jack (RJ11). The mouse uses a nine pin connector and again is specific to Mac Plus (and 128k and 512k). One member of the list (in New Zealand, new home of LOTR) has an adapter that allows a PS/2 mouse to be used on Apple IIe and IIgs computers and it **should** work with a Plus.
Alternatively, check eBay under both Vintage and Apple categories. You can also try thrift shops, I got a keyboard and cable at the recycling shop at the local dump!

Good luck in your search.
