It took a light lubing and a gentle moving of the stuck parts until they broke free and did what they used to do. A small lever on its right side was a crucial part to be attended to before all would break free. Luckily the mechanism wasn't tweaked by forcing, nor was the head damaged by attempts to jam in a floppy. Two things that guarantee a dead drive.
