Actually, I'm very impressed with the Asante ethernet card - my primary concern >had been what sort of case hack I'd need to do so that I would have both an >ethernet socket /and/ video port on the back of my SE/30. However it looks >(although I've not gone into it in any detail yet) as if the ethernet daughter >card has a port which can actually be detached and/or used as a video port (an >AUI port if that means anything to anyone!).

Well, yes, it means something to me and no doubt a lot of the other listers. I came to read the list mails only today and I am amazed noone reacted before. If you mean to cut the connections of the DB-15 style socket off and connect the video output cable of your video PDS card to it, you can be lucky. But never mistake an AAUI port for a video port or vice versa (the /or in your post could be misleading) or you are risking your hardware. AAUI is just another (Apple-specific) kind of Ethernet connection, hence the plethora of transceivers, e.g. AAUI to RJ-45. Some of the Asante cards I know came with RJ-45, AAUI and BNC, some just with AAUI and RJ-45. As practically everybody uses the "phone connector on steroids"-style RJ-45, it's ok to cannibalize the DB 15 for a video connector. But if I were in your place, I'd check on the switched-off machine if the connector really fits before doing any soldering.

Hve fun!
