A 9 pin serial port connected to something called a Terminal Emulator would 
lead me to believe its a device to add a 9-pin serial port to use the Mac as 
a Terminal Emulator.

Think connecting it to a headless Unix (or other OS) box and thats probably 
what its for. Wish i had one now, would have been easier using it to connect 
to my Unix boxes then the cable i had to make.
