If the internal hard drive is on SCSI ID zero, then the external
hard drive must use some other SCSI ID. It sounds like MacEnvy is
a nifty little program (I just looked it up), and I presume it is
installed on the internal hard drive. If so, connect the external
hard drive to the SE and leave it turned off. Turn the SE on.
After the Finder had loaded, turn on the external hard drive and
wait a few seconds. Go into MacEnvy and see if you can get any
information about the drive. If it has a "scan" or "rescan" SCSI
bus option, you'll have to do that. If it doesn't and you cannot
see the drive, you may need more SCSI oriented software (I think
an older version of Mt. Everything will work). If you're okay to
this point, I'll suggest that the problem is with the hard drive
driver.
