Somebody suggested the same for my Daystar accelerator: if you are willing to use an external drive a IIsi adapter will do the job (since the adapter will obstruct the internal drives). If that is the case, that means the boards' input pins are the same in both cases and the boards' output pins are the same in both cases. If my memory serves me correctly, the inputs can be left untouched: the adapter would just rise through the SE/30's frame. The next step would be to convert the sideways facing Euro(whatever) connector facing upwards. Two cases: 1) You desolder the old connector and replace it with one which faces upwards. These should be dead simple to find since I've seen them in many forms of instrumentation (I'm not sure about the size though). This route is difficult: desoldering over 100 pins will drive you insane and resoldering them is delicate (you don't want to overheat the electronics or introduce shorts). 2) You build an elbow adapter from two Euro(whatever) connectors. This route will involve a lot of patience, but you don't have to worry about excessive heat or mistakes (you just redo your own work). But I don't know how tollerant the bus is to noise and this may allow some noise to enter the system. Just some ideas which may save you a few hundred bucks, assuming the post a few days back is representative. Byron. -- Compact Macs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/>.
