I have the following setup:

1) Comcast modem plugged into wireless router

2) Tray-loading lime iMac plugged by Ethernet directly into wireless router

3) 2 SE/30's (one running 7.5, the other 7.5.3--god, amazing how bloated it is) right now plugged directly into the wireless router.

4) Sony VAIO, with a USB wireless box (Windows XP)

5) G4 Cube, with Airport card (10.3.3)

6) 2 ibooks, with Airport cards (both 10.3.3)

7) The following machines plugged into a little Linksys switch:
     a. 5300c running OS 8
     b. Next workstation running NS 3.3, with DHCP installed

The switch also has attached to it a wireless network bridge that provides internet access.

I have the following issues:

1) The two SE/30's work flawlessly with with another using Appletalk and Appleshare. The one SE/30 is perfect, came with 20 MB memory and I installed an Asante MacCon card. H/e, the one running 7.5 has a couple of needs I thought I would check with the list first about. One, the floppy drive is absolutely shot, broken. I have a Classic here that I could transplant a floppy from, but the Classic works fine and it seems obscene to use a fully function system for parts. Two, the SE/30 came with only 4 MB of memory, which is useless with the system version it is running--there is only 1.5 MB free with the system running. On the plus side, the person that listed it on ebay DIDN'T list that it already had a MacCon card installed! So, does anyone have a floppy from a dead machine, and does anyone know a cheap source for SIMMs. I have a friend with A/UX install disks and a gig SCSI drive, so if I was able to put a working floppy and 128MB into the one SE/30 that would be fantastic.

2) The Panther machines see the SE/30s fine and can mount the SE/30s drives and read and write to them. The SE/30s see the Panther machines, and the Panther-running machines' drives show right up in the Chooser. H/e, when I try to choose a Panther drive from either SE/30 I get a message back that the operation cannot be completed as the Panther machine is running 'an incompatible version of AFP" H/e, the SE/30s have no problem connecting when the Panther machines are running classic.

I've noticed that Panther, which should be the computing world's great utility infielder, able to connect with everything, comes out of the box with settings for just about everything screwed up--samba not fully activated with swat, NFS sharing requiring changes, etc.--so is there something that needs to be set on the Panther side to make the SE/30's happy, other than switching the machines to load classic when booting?

Finally, I'm considering switching one or both of the SE/30s to the room with the Next workstation and linksys switch. Hopefully the Asante cards won't have a problem with the switch. One question, though--is there any utility around that would let the Next machine and SE/30s access one another? I haven't gotten around to sharing the Next machine, but suppose that it should be readily done back and forth with Panther using NFS, but that doesn't help with the SE/30s.
