When I was an apprentice (electrician) I was sent to work at a local middle school. We were tearing out the old computer network and putting a new computer network in place. One of my jobs was to discard about 75 or so Mac SEs (I believe, it's been a while, and I knew nothing of compact Macs back then). I asked a school employee if I could keep one, and they said no, and spouted off about some kind of rules. After I threw them in the dumpster, the same employee looked at it, and decided that wasn't good enough. I was told to bust all the screens so they would be unuseable to any dumpster divers they might attract.
