The Sonic comm slot card is a good buy. It uses the same chip set as many standard Apple boards and is fully supported by System 7.5.x. The Sonic drivers will enable any extra cache if it is present) but the Apple drivers should work for testing. Grab a copy of the System 7.5 Network Access Disk (from Apple's legacy software pages) which should work with the 575 logic board and use that to test for AppleTalk connectivity -- much quicker than a clean install of 7.5.3.
Any way the analog board might have something to do with this problem (did
the VGA mod - NOT Hi Res)? Seems to me that that's about all that's left ...
A good thought -- check the 5V line on the serial port. Also try grabbing a copy of TattleTech (see Gamba's pages for links) and verify that the ethernet card is detected.
