How about trying http://www.macnauchtan.com/pub/MacBattery/MacBattery.html for a diy 4.5 V alkaline battery? The purists could velcro it inside the Plus and place a dummy (nicely painted, of course) in the battery holder. I appreciate Douglas' work very much.

That is a great idea for my Performa 6360. Thank you. However, on a Mac Plus, the battery stays not on the MB, and is of a different shape: a cube, slightly bigger than the "AA". I don't think the dummy would fit inside the Plus' battery compartment.
