As far as I know, 1.2b2 is the final release of Mount Image.  This is the
version that I have, and that I have always had.  If anyone can find a newer
version, please let me know.  I guess I knew about that bug already, but had
kind of forgotten about it because I never experienced any problems using
it.  I guess it's a kind of use-at-your-own-risk type deal.

If you're worried about losing files on your hard disk, perhaps consider
keeping the original image file on a floppy disk or other removable storage
media with nothing else on it when you want to mount it.  That way, if I
understand the above correctly, if Mount Image decides it needs to start
blindly reading and writing to random blocks, it will be reading and writing
blocks in a place that won't hurt anything.
