I see a bunch of OpenTransport items in Extensions.
I installed System 7.5.3, I thought that OS had OT.
I will look in a bit.

My SE/30 ... Asante driver version 5.6.1.

I went to the Network control panel and selected "Ethernet"
I went to MacTCP and selected "EtherTalk"

I tried various configurations for static and dynamic and nothing
works.

The differences between your iBook and SE/30 are 1) iBook is 10/100
ethernet and SE/30 card is 10baseT only, and 2) iBook is capable of DHCP
via Open Transport, and you are trying to use MacTCP on the SE/30 which
cannot do DHCP.

Even if you don't want to use AppleTalk, it is a good idea to get it
working to eliminate your hardware and wiring as the cause of the
problem. The Network control panel is the AppleTalk setting. When you use
Open Transport the control panel is called AppleTalk. To find out if
AppleTalk works, turn on File Sharing on your SE/30 and see if you can
access the share from the G5.

I don't know anything about Mac OS X Internet Connection Sharing, but if
it requires DHCP on the client, MacTCP cannot do it. You will have to
install Open Transport on the SE/30. IIRC the proper procedure is to
install Open Transport 1.1 and then upgrade it to 1.2.
