Hi folks,

Hope you can send me some anti-frustration medicine. I was making
progress until just now with my Plus. I got 6.0.8 and most of the
programs I wanted installed on the external SCSI drive, and it was all
working great. Maybe I should have stopped there.

Instead I thought, forge ahead! and I attached the used Asante Mini
EN/SC adapter I'd gotten, and chained my SCSI drive off of that.
Turned termination off on the EN/SC. Booted up and tried to use the
Asante EtherTalk Installer floppy.

Well, I shoulda known, but that floppy won't work with my Plus floppy
drive. My Plus can only read 800k disks.

So I tried a workaround. I used my LC 520 to copy the files off the
Asante floppy to 2 800k floppies. Went back to the Plus, copied those
files into a folder on the external drive. Tried running the
installer. Well, the installer can't deal with not having the exact
physical floppy. It asks me to insert it. THen when I do it says the
floppy is unreadable of course.

Aargh! Next try. I go to Jag's House and download the files he says
you need for your Plus running System 6 and using the Asante EN/SC.
Get them onto the Plus' drive, in the system folder. Restart the Plus.
Go to the Control Panel. choose Network. Crash. Damaged my system file.

Well, I've fixed the damage and am back where I started. I messed
around with Apple's NSI, various versions, but they are the same
dealio as the Asante installer, seem to need a computer that can read
more than 800k disks. And now I am afraid of the Network control
panel. Any thoughts as to what I should try next?

Thank you,

Jessi

I had the same issue but I had already installed them on a Classic, so I
just copied them over PhoneNet to the Plus and dumped them into the
proper places. Worked on for me.

Hi James,

I'm not in the same fortunate position. Are you running 6.0.8 on the Plus? What files did you need, and what versions, exactly? If I knew exactly what I needed I could probably get them on the Plus. I'm still worried about the Network control panel crashing the Plus, though. That was nasty.

Thanks again, Jessi
