Hi all,
Just purchased today and ( I could not resist), 4 compact Mac's...untested,
with keyboards, cables etc from a charity auction ...my collection was
dwindling down to 20. and... I paid them well!
My question.........I'm curious on the history.... And ANYTHING worth mentioning between the SE with hard drives and the SEFDHD.
Cheers, Phil
The first thing out of my mouth about the SE is how superbly retro it looks. And what a
enjoyable machine it still really is.
It's got the CPU and RAM limits of the Plus my all-time-favorite Mac. But it runs slightly
faster. With the old Rodime Washing-Machine 20 MB hard disk in it, there's a comforting
sound in it's operation.
Over 80% of the SE's I've acquired have functioned with no major work being done.
Just the usual screen adjusting and file and disk checking. And I swap out burned-in
CRTs so the screen is easy to read.
I've had or still have one with an 800k floppy drive and the Rodime hard disk, one with a
1.4MB floppy and a Rodime hard disk; and one or two with the two floppy drives.
I still use my SEs on occasion for the games, the apps, the fun of watching and listening
to it work.
