Hi Veronica,

I've just inherited a Classic and though I've had several macs over the
years these little machines are quite special.
Well, as a start in your education here's a little background info on your
Classic.
http://www.apple-history.com/frames/body.php?page=gallery&model=classic

And here is a link for the service manual:
http://preterhuman.net/texts/computing/Apple_Service_PDF/68k_Macintosh/class
ic_ii.performa_200.pdf
- don't worry if this looks a little daunting right now it'll come in handy
later, but it also offers a good, more detailed background on your machine.
[the service manuals for pretty much every mac are available here:
http://home.earthlink.net/~strahm_s/manuals.html]

The reason you should have this service manual now is that you may need it
sooner than you think. My Classic came to me with no hard disc so one of the
first things I've had to do is open it up and add some hardware.
It *may* be possible that your machine also has no hard disc, since
according to the service manual hard discs were optional at the time these
were sold and your machine shows the symptoms of lacking a boot disc.

So, good luck and enjoy your new addition :)

Andy
