The 1M RAM, 800K drive, and 20SC labels are the original configuration of
the machine when shipped from the factory. Any or all of them may have
been upgraded. "radius accelerator 16" is a significant and useful
upgrade.

The first thing I would do is insert a "System Tools" or "Disk Tools"
floppy right after turning the Mac on. It will boot from the floppy
instead of from the hard disk. On the floppy is a program called "Disk
First Aid" which may be able to fix what's wrong with the hard disk. If
you don't have a tools floppy you might try holding down the shift key
during the entire startup sequence and see if you get past the error.

I would NOT remove the accelerator card as was suggested. From my
experience they work fine with System 6 and some are ok with System 7 or
even 7.1. Any Disk Tools floppy will be System 6 or earlier, and the hard
disk probably has a system version on it compatible with the radius.
Regardless of the condition of the hard disk, I would try to preserve any
files associated with the accelerator. These files improve the operation
of the Mac when the accelerator is present.

When everything is working right that Mac will be about twice as fast as
a standard SE and the difference will be quite noticeable.
