There was another publication that ran the article on how to make
your own blue box. They ceased publication not long after the
article ran. Using a blue box to defraud the telephone companies
billing systems was, and is, a federal offense with serious jail
time. A couple of years later the Bell System cut over almost all of
it's toll routing and billing to a separate data network known as the
Signaling System 7 or CCSN (Common Channel Signaling Network) .
Other carriers followed suit. A blue box might work in the third
world, but not in the US or Cnada any more.

in which phone phreaking was introduced to the general public.
What's the connection to the list? Upon reading this article, Jobs
and Scully sought out atleast one of the people mentioned in it;
later hiring him as one of the first Apple employees. Compact? Well,
it's a little blue box. I'd call it compact.. :)

PS - My 512Ke's screen has started to not turn on upon bootup. My
last solution was to hit the side of the case to get the picture to
come back. My analogue board's caps are going? Picture tube failing?
