I bought a new HP PC with 6 GB memory, 64-bit system.
While setting up the PC I got one message indicating there could be a
memory problem or corruption, windows explorer has crashed several
times and now for the grand finale, I keep getting a message that
MSVCP71.DLL cannot be found. This prevents AVAST antivirus from
starting as well as other programs. Other errors linked to this
problem include: CLMSVC.EXE, TSMAGENT.EXE, DVDAGENT.EXE, ASHDISP.EXE.

I do have the file MSVCP71.DLL located in my Windows\System32 folder,
but my system seems to not recognize it. I tried to register the file
but it does not work. I tried System Restore which did not help.

I ran Adaware, Spybot and Malwarebytes all of which did not help.

This is killing me, any help would be greatly appreciated.
