Been looking to setup another PC at home, our I.T. Department was tossing some old workstations and I snagged a Dell WHL 530 MT Series workstation with Dual Xeon 1.5GHz processors Level 2 Cache 256K, 2GB RAM and a NVIDIA Quadro 4700 video card. Was going to see about throwing in a decent hard drive and making it my new PC for dirt cheap. Tried putting in an old drive last night but Windows is trashed on it so maybe tonight.
Question is I can't seem to find any decent info on the Xeon 1.5GHz processor(s) or benchmarking of the workstation. I am currently running a clunky old Pentium 4 2.4GHz ASUS system and can't even find if the Dell 530 would benchmark better then what I have running Windows XP Pro (not 64). I don't do a lot on it, internet stuff, photo editing, documentation, a bit of 3D modelling which even my P4 works good enough for. No gaming, video editing or anything major taxing like that. Was looking at buying a new Dell from what I have heard with the cheap Dell stuff, even if it sounds good you get what you pay for. If this workstation is decent I'd rather throw in a 1.5TB HD and a decent monitor then get some eye-candy limited machine system for $500. Any and all suggestions welcomed.
