I would suggest the same as KwikOne, degragmenting the drive may
indeed help, if not you can also try backing up your data and
formatting the drive completely. If the issue still persists after the
defrag and/or format, you can almost be certain it is a hardware issue
with your HDD.

Also check your warranty, if its still under warranty and giving you
problems, you may qualify for a replacement or at the least have it
fixed.
