I'm not sure about dvi being better but i know one thing, i don't think any converter can make a signal better than the original signal, unless this signal has some noise that's removed by some filter, but the converter on it's own won't make anything better, supposing nothing is lost during the conversion process. But at the end i don't really know what this dvi port is, and what i said is just what i think, not something that i know for sure.
