Hello All,

I am having the weirdest monitor problem. I have a Gateway 24inch HD
LCD which started smearing to the right. By smearing, I mean that text
and images would have a ghosting effect on the right of the text or
image that gradually faded out as it moved away from the text or
image.

This got worse and worse to the point where, as a graphics person, it
became unusable. I replaced it with a Dell of the same size.
Everything looked just fine ... for a few weeks. Then, this monitor
began to do the exact same thing.

In an effort to troubleshoot this problem, I replaced the Dell with
the *original* Gateway, which had magically fixed itself during the
several weeks it sat on the shelf. I put the Dell on a different PC
which sits near to my main machine. Over the next few weeks the Dell
cleared up and the Gateway started having problems with smearing
again.

I have to think something *near* the place where I put my monitor is
causing this. Does anyone have any ideas? The only three things on the
right of the monitor are the PC itself, a smallish Altech PC speaker
and a WACOM pad.

Thanks in advance ...
P Ratcliff
