I have worked in many settings in the USA. After the employers and
insurers took over there have been
a lot of rationing in the USA. Dreadful. I could go on on
casualties that I witnessed.

Oh, I do agree, Marcio. My husband has seen it over and over and
over. People want to blame it on the drs. but that's sleight of hand
by those in power. Dr.s expenses have risen dramatically , right
along with their patients'. Malpractice insurance is unaffordable by
many specialties....my husband's included. He is no longer in
private practice, in part due to the outrageous controls put on his
ability to prescribe what he feels is appropriate for his patients by
insurance companies......or the pressure poorly informed patients
would put on him for drugs they've seen advertised on tv that they
are SURE they need and he knows they do not. Often, drs. are forced
to accept a tiny fraction of their fee by the insurance company of a
patient and cannot ask for the balance from the patient. But, the
insurance company that covers their malpractice insurance would not
accept them paying just part of their premium "because that's what
they've determined it is worth". It truly is outrageous what has
happened to the practice of medicine in this country and the welfare
of the individual person is the LAST thing the "business" of medicine
is concerned about.
My husband now teaches the physicians of tomorrow and tries to open
their eyes about what is happening and ways to try and make a
difference.

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of
arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather
to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, wine in the other, body
thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a
ride!" Have a wonderful day!
