1) Don't believe everything you read in user comments. Often the user is cause of the problem and doesn't know enough to get something working. 2) Changing drivers and changing standards can make these readers hard to configure. They can be a bare to get working, even on a Mac. Fortunately they are cheap. My current one connects via USB and is from SanDisk. I think it was around $12.
