You shouldn't be experiencing slowdowns just because you're viewing Flash.
Unless maybe you've got really old version or old video drivers.
I don't know either what the fascination is. Possibly because the only other
real alternative is .wmv and some people just hate anything to do with
Microsoft.
The code for Flash appears to have been rewritten in the usual Adobe
bloatware way, although I can't prove it. Sure acts like it, like when
Adobe ruined PageMaker and bloated Photoshop.
The real alternative to using Flash to replace static information on a
web site is to use static code. There's no reason for a mobile phone
site to load a new Flash movie every time I click on a phone to get
specs. WMV isn't a choice because it isn't a web standard. MPEG is an
accepted web standard because any browser can display it, while .wmv
doesn't always work properly. I'm positive about that because I have a
wmv stream set to come on every morning about the same time my alarm
goes off, and about 50% of the time I have to go to my computer and
reload the page, or open the stream in a different program. This doesn't
happen with MP3 streams on my new or old computers, Mac or PC.
There's no reason to use any kind of video in any format where static
data provides more information, faster, and is easier to load and
navigate. No more Trash with Flash!!
