As much as you might not like to admit it, when an OS generates 92% of the traffic on a website, that's a standard. 91% of that is Windows versions that can play .wmv9 with no trouble. [stats pulled from my own community website just now]
Yes, pro video people use wmv9 all the time these days for many purposes. I *am* one so I can talk. Flash _video_ is *not* older than .wmv, nor even wmv9 which is when I started using it (and is all I'm talking about). As I recall, video only became possible with Flash 6, but to date there are no easy/free converters or players (I believe Adobe is getting set to release a free player RSN). So far, authors must encode and include a player with their Flash video. BTW wmv9 video has been approved as a standard by SMPTE (they call it VC-1). Flash video has not. You're going to be seeing a lot more of it since it's one of the standards included in HD-DVD and Blu-ray disks. WMV may be a standard for Windows video but it isn't universal. It's not > used seriously for pro video, either. ************************************************************************ * ==> QUICK LIST-COMMAND REFERENCE - Put the following commands in <== * ==> the body of an email & send 'em to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] <== * Join the list: SUBSCRIBE COMPUTERGUYS-L Your Name * Too much mail?
