I started computing back in the days when we used a Silent 700 to connect to a main frame running BSD that was located 600 miles away at the head office. We moved up in the tech world when the office got a Kaypro II although it still used a 300 baud modem. I now have 3 XP Pro machines that I use ... well, 2 not as much, since I bought my MBP about 18 months. Today, I was listening the podcast of TWiT # 119. Within the first 10 minutes of the show, the venerable John C. Dvorak said the same thing I've said for the past year and a half. If someone asks him what kind of computer to get, he recommends a Mac. The only real exception would be for gaming.
