>And sometimes management is so worried about hurting the bottom >line they figure if it worked last year it will work this year. >Guess that's why my computer is still running Windows 98,... >And this is at a company that was just bought out by another for >$18 billion dollars...
This is an example of out of touch management that is not really managing the business. They don't have a clue about the processes and procedures in their business. They do not know where value and productivity come from. They just look at numbers and are afraid to change anything. They don't know what and why to upgrade because they do not understand what it is doing. They don't understand the productivity hit caused by the old equipment becuse there is no line in their spreadsheet for "wasted time and effort." This may be why your company was acquired. The purchaser may have seen the unrealized value in your company. Managed well your compamy may be worth a lot more than it is now. You will see soon enough: see how long before they get you a proper computer. ************************************************************************ * ==> QUICK LIST-COMMAND REFERENCE - Put the following commands in <== * ==> the body of an email & send 'em to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] <== * Join the list: SUBSCRIBE COMPUTERGUYS-L Your Name * Too much mail?
