Keeping around old hardware that is troublesome is bad management.  Keeping
around old hardware that is as solid as they were when new (thank you
Michael Dell) and still can be used in less-critical areas, such as with
interns and public access stations, is being fiscally responsible.

I feel for your clients.  They must cry all the way to the bank.
