This has happened to me before. They will build up a 100% reputation and then sell a whole bunch of stuff in a short amount of time and not deliver then their rating plummets.

You do a dispute resolution with Ebay but that has nothing to do with funds!!!!!! (My beef with them)

By going outside the Paypal process they can screw you faster than the government.

Put a stop payment on the Cashiers check Yesterday!!! It can be done and must be done.

I had this happen on a couple of computers over 4 years ago and the same exact thing tool place. Luckily I used a debit card and was able to cancel the payments.

Never buy anything except by credit card. With the credit card you have a LOT of rights with respect to undelivered or unsatisfactory merchandise. While credit cards cost something (3% or more) to process, and not everyone can get a merchant account (particularly not mail order houses because of the large number of charge-backs), Paypal is an alternative.

I would be very suspicious of any commercial enterprise that does not accept Paypal, and would not deal with one. In fact, I doubt I would deal with an individual who does not accept paypal. Of the alternatives only personal checks are not expensive to the buyer, but many sellers will hold personal checks for 10 days to 2 weeks (sometimes more) to wait for them to clear. (I believe there are some Federal Trade Commission rules on this. www.ftc.gov ) I make a point of not dealing with mail order houses that do not accept credit cards.

I purchased a software program from a "Buy it Now" sale at an eBay store. The store had 100% positive rating. The software is ADOBE PHOTOSHOP CS2 FULL GENUINE SOFTWARE SEALED, which is an older version of Photoshop. The price was about $140. The seller didn't accept Paypal, but only personal checks, cashier's checks, and direct wire transfer. To be safe, before sending money I emailed the request for payment from the seller to spoof at eBay, and they verified that it was legitimate.
Then I sent a cashier's check.

Today I received a message from eBay saying that the store has been removed from eBay. The 100% positive rating has dropped to 68%.

Time hasn't run out yet on expectation of receiving the software, but is there any way to recoup my loss in case I never see the software?
