Has anyone ever had a problem entering their product key when activating
a MS product?
I'm trying to activate Office Home & Student 2007 on my son's laptop,
and the activation wizard will only allow me to enter the first digit of
the product code into the text box.
This is a legal copy of Office which I purchased w/ the Compaq laptop
from PCMall.
I've tried copy/pasting the product key from notepad, which enters
-nothing- into the text box.
This happens whether I try to activate & install directly from the
Office CD or via the Office activation assistant already on the
computer. Tried rebooting, tried in safe mode...
The only info I've found googling involves the same problem, but with
Works 95:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/136701
The article suggests registering the product the key by using the Run
command.
If I tried this, would this be the correct syntax?
*<drive letter>:\msoffice\setup /K"<CD Key Value>"
*I also deleted/reinstalled the MS Sans Serif fonts in case they were
corrupted. No luck.
Thanks in advance,
Sheri
