We've had items seized at US Customs for all sorts of bogus reasons. I suspect it's so agents can show their power over you, or make money on bribes or seized goods. They've taken plants for which we had ag permits. I think I've had my suitcase dumped dozens of times. People carry drugs and weapons through customs with no problems, but Sniffy the beagle followed my husband around smelling the sandwich in his bag last time we went thru JFK. We've stayed overnight at airports at arrivals, inside the customs area, with few problems staying and no agents bothering us when we left. Guess the best time to go through customs is at 4 a.m. when the agents are half asleep and would rather play video games and their loud boomboxes than be bothered with passengers.

Isn't there a law that forbids US customs agents from demanding your login and password? There's a lot of grey area there, too?

Betty
