Because in many ways they are right.

Steve Ballmers boorish recent behavior with Yahoo is indicative of what is wrong with the company. (We will do anything to get our own way.)

Vista sucks! BIG TIME. Many who I speak to do not want it will overwrite it with XP in an instant. Applications do not work with it and it is a hardware hog.

They remind me of a higher learning institute that has packed its faculty with graduate students of it's own design. Good Universities limit the faculty who have graduate degrees from their institution so they do not become hide bound. MS has forgotten that dictate and now is paying the price.

Bill Gates may have started a great company (I still love their hardware) but he is also allowing it to become a has been.

"Windows is dying, Windows applications suck, and Microsoft is too blinkered to fix any of it‹that's the argument. The truth is that Windows is hampered by 25-year old design decisions. These decisions mean that it's clunky to use and absolutely horrible to write applications for. The applications that people do write are almost universally terrible. They're ugly, they're inconsistent, they're disorganized; there's no finesse, no care lavished on them. Microsoft‹surely the company with the greatest interest in making Windows and Windows applications exude quality‹is, in fact, one of the worst perpetrators."

QUESTION: Why is the press picking so on MS?
