The many replies to that blog entry quickly set the author straight. The typical Unix/Linux box can load a variety of file systems. He just did not know where to get the one that reads HFS+. Others pointed out that Apple's HFS+ has a number of unique and very worthwhile features. They expressed hope that the future ZFS would provide a common file system across both branches of the xNIX family without losing important features of HFS+. Others gently hinted that he was an idiot for trying to fix a broken Mac hard drive using a "foreign" operating system. Plugging that drive into another Mac would have afforded a quick and easy resolution. ************************************************************************* ** List info, subscription management, list rules, archives, privacy ** ** policy, calmness, a member map, and more at http://www.cguys.org/ ** *************************************************************************
